The Association was established during the community's Sesquicentennial
celebration of 1981 for the purpose of collecting materials and artifacts
pertaining to the history and development of the Allegany area. The Education
Department of the University of the State of New York granted an Absolute

Location
The Association's permanent meeting site and shelter for historical artifacts
is in the former United Methodist Church located at 25 N. Second Street in the
village of Allegany. The church, a local historical landmark, was constructed
in 1855 by the Methodist Episcopal Congregation, one of the earliest religious
societies in the village. The Association now owns the building. The layout of
the church has been preserved, including the original pews and pulpit.

Mr. Kinal, a Social Studies teacher for 40 years at Pembroke Central School in Genesee County, spoke to us last year about immigration and Ellis Island. As those who attended that meeting know, he is a dynamic speaker who really knows history and makes it come alive. I'm sure he will do the same for everyone who was involved in the Lincoln Assassination Plot.
The meeting is free and open to the public.
